Welcome to Maryport, the “Queen of the Solway”. Maryport offers a family destination, with entertainment & interests for all ages, a history dating back to the Roman era & a rich Georgian history reflected in its architecture. For the young, & young at heart, there is Clip n’ Climb at The Wave, Go Karting & the Lake District Coast Aquarium. For those who like to explore the history of an area, the Maryport Maritime Museum & the Senhouse Roman Museum offer an insight into the area’s history going back almost 2,000 years!

Situated near the Lake District & on the Irish Sea coast, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the area is the scene of paintings by artistic greats such as LS Lowry, Percy Kelly & Sheila Fell. The Harbour & Marina area has been restored & provides the opportunity for a relaxing stroll, as does the promenade, which extends northwards from the harbour for over almost 1.5 miles.

There are plenty of pubs, restaurants & food outlets to choose from in the town, which is surrounded by beautiful walking routes & cycle paths, along the coast & around the town. A great place for a relaxing family day out!

Lake District Coast Aquarium

The award winning Lake District Coast Aquarium is dedicated to species of fish & marine life found in the Solway Firth. The aquarium has its own Sea Lab where visitors can view lobsters being bred & at various stages of development. With Daily Fish Feeding & Talks, it provides great chances to see fish being fed whilst learning new & interesting facts from one of the Aquarists.

A popular café is part of the aquarium building & like the gift shop, adventure playground, mini golf and boat pool which form part of the site, is accessible to the general public, not just ticket holders. Tickets are available for a whole day experience. ‘Expect the Unexpected!'
